If any of you have read a review about Green Lantern then you probably believe it's the worst movie since that one Sandra Bullock movie she got a Razzie for. I clearly saw another movie titled Green Lantern starring Ryan Reynolds, because there's no way every major critic out there could be that wrong. Well, there is one way: suppose the film wasn't available for viewing early enough for them to make their deadlines so they based the reviews off of the previews and/or poster. Or possibly their own terrible screenplays/fanfics based on the series.
The Green Lantern film I saw was witty, unique and entertaining. I am no expert into Green Lantern lore from the original comics, but they did a good job in creating an entertaining plot. It's no Oscar winner, but the plot is pretty solid and the acting helps where plot holes might occur. Peter Sarsgaard gives a disturbing turn as the "mad scientist" Hector Hammond, the human antagonist int he film, and plays well off of Ryan Reynold's all-American playboy (a role he has played plenty of times, which is ironic because he's Canadian) turned superhero Hal Jordan. What I found most surprising was Blake Lively as Carol Ferris. I am proud to say I have never watched any Gossip Girl ever but I do know that Lively is one of the vapid stars of that show. I've never liked her, found her incredibly obnoxious, and not altogether attractive. However, she plays Ferris as a strong, competent, witty young woman who is career-driven and a romantic at the same time. She even rocks a new brunette do that has her looking better than she has in the past.
If you recall, I think film critics are imbecilic, so I really shouldn't be surprised about the fact that this movie is really good. But even film critics shouldn't be this wrong. Therefore, don't see Green Lantern. It's a terrible movie. My theater was apparently too cheap to get the real movie so they got some sort of bootleg film that was similar enough to, and happened to be better than, the actual movie.

Real Film: 1 star out of 5
Film I saw: 4 stars out of 5
Random fact: Nathan Fillion and Ryan Reynolds costarred in Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place and both actors have played Hal Jordan in the last year. Fillion voiced the character in the 2010 animated film Green Lantern: Emerald Knights. Also, both actors are Canadian. I have an unhealthy love for IMDB; don't judge me.
